Seven people were killed and 11 others were injured when a giant cargo plane crashed while taking off from the airport in Louisville, Kentucky in the US.
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said the death toll was expected to rise. The Federal Aviation Administration said the crash occurred at 5:15 p.m. local time on Tuesday as the plane was taking off from Louisville’s Muhammad Ali International Airport for Honolulu.
In a video purported to be related to the incident, flames and thick smoke are visible on the left side of the plane. During this, the plane rises slightly above the ground and then crashes and falls.
Officials said the death toll reached at least seven by Tuesday night. He said four of the dead were not on the plane. Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said the death toll was expected to rise. He said 11 people were also injured, some of whom suffered “very serious” injuries.
