An encounter started between security forces and terrorists on Wednesday morning in Chhatru area of Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir. Encounter continues between terrorists and security forces in Kalaban forest area of Naidagam. The officers provided this information. “This morning, in an intelligence based operation launched in coordination with Jammu and Kashmir Police, alert troops of White Knight Corps engaged terrorists in Chhatru general area,” White Knight Corps said in a post on social media platform ‘X’.
“The operation is still going on,” it said. Security forces are battling at least two to three terrorists and one soldier is reported to be slightly injured. Security forces are continuously monitoring the activities of terrorists in Kishtwar district, resulting in several encounters in the area bordering Doda and Udhampur districts.

Kishtwar has witnessed six encounters in the last seven months as security forces continue to search for Pakistani terrorists hiding in these hills. There was an encounter with a group of terrorists on 21 September in Chhatru area. On September 13, two army personnel were martyred in an encounter with terrorists in Naidagram area of Chhatru, one of whom was a junior commissioned officer and two other army personnel were injured.

Fierce encounters took place in Dul and Chhatru areas on August 11 and July 2, but the terrorists somehow escaped. On May 22, two terrorists were killed in an encounter in the Singapore area of Chhatru and a soldier was also martyred. Three terrorists were killed in an encounter in Kishtwar area on April 12, while the Army foiled an infiltration attempt by terrorists along the Line of Control in Akhnoor sector.
