Jathedar Gargaj, who arrived in Pakistan with the Sikh Jathe, said – ‘Sikhs always worship Nankana Sahib’

Around 2,100 Indian Sikh pilgrims entered Pakistan through the Wagah border on Tuesday to attend the 556th Prakash Purab celebrations of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Addressing the Sikhs, Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj, who arrived in Pakistan with the Sikh Jathe, said that no matter where the Sikhs live, they always worship Nankana Sahib and will continue to do so. He said that like Gurudham of India, Nankana Sahib also resides in our hearts.

Jathedar Sahib said that our mother tongue Punjabi should also be given due respect, there should be an arrangement to teach Punjabi in schools. Thanks to the governments of both countries for allowing our team to come here today. We hope that the peace and tranquility in both the countries will remain the same.

This is the first batch to visit Gurdwaras in Pakistan after the Pahalgam incident and Operation Sindoor. The jatha will visit several holy places including Gurdwara Nankana Sahib, Panja Sahib, Dera Sahib and Kartarpur Sahib and will return to India on November 13.

The Pakistan government has issued visas to 1,794 pilgrims out of about 1,800 passports of Punjab, which is encouraging among the pilgrims. This procession left from Shiromani Committee office at 8:30 am today.

ETPB spokesperson Ghulam Mohiuddin said around 2,100 Sikhs reached Lahore via Wagah on Tuesday. He said that after completing the immigration and customs formalities, the pilgrims left for Gurdwara Janm Sthan Sri Nankana Sahib by special buses.

Nasir Mushtaq said that the main celebration of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s birthday will be held on Wednesday at Gurdwara Janm Sthan, about 80 km from Lahore. All the Gurdwaras, including Janm Sthan and Kartarpur Sahi, are beautifully decorated with lights. For medical assistance, teams from Rescue 1122 and ETPB Medical Unit will accompany the pilgrims.
