Janashakti Janata Dal (JJD) chief Tej Pratap Yadav has expressed serious concerns about his security amid rising criminal incidents and rising political tension in Bihar. He has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Central Government to increase his personal security and said that the current security arrangements are inadequate. Tej Pratap expressed this concern days after the murder of Jan Suraj activist Dular Chand Yadav while he was campaigning for Jan Suraj candidate Piyush Priyadarshi in Mokama on Thursday. The police then filed four separate first information reports (FIRs), one of which was against Singh. His post-mortem report revealed that he died of cardiorespiratory failure due to shock caused by injuries to the heart and lungs.

Referring to the recent incident of Mokama, Tej Pratap expressed apprehension that the increasing incidents of murder, firing and other crimes in the state are a threat not only to the public but also to the elected representatives. He said that they can be targeted due to political rivalry, hence the Central Government and State Administration should tighten their security arrangements so that they can campaign without any fear. While talking to journalists he raised questions on the security arrangements. He said, “You can see the current situation in Bihar. Murders are happening one after the other. No one knows when and where an enemy will appear.”

Tej Pratap Yadav reached the Election Commission. While talking to journalists, he gave this statement regarding security arrangements. Apart from this, Tej Pratap Yadav has filed a complaint with the Election Commission against his own party’s candidate contesting from Supaul Assembly seat. In the complaint, Tej Pratap has alleged that a candidate from his own party sought support from a candidate from the Grand Alliance, which is against the policy and discipline of the party. He has demanded an impartial investigation into the matter from the Election Commission and strict action against the culprits.
