Taking a big action on Sunday amid political activity in Patna, the police arrested controversial JDU leader and Mokama candidate Anant Singh. This action has been taken in connection with the murder of Jan Suraj Party worker Dularchand Yadav, who died under suspicious circumstances during the election campaign on Thursday. In the same case, the police have also detained two other associates Manikant Thakur and Ranjit Ram.
The postmortem report has revealed that Yadav did not die due to bullet injury, but due to burst lungs and multiple broken ribs. According to available information, this violence took place during a clash between two groups during the election campaign. Yadav was campaigning in support of Jan Suraj Party candidate Piyush Priyadarshi.
Patna SSP Karthikeya Sharma said that on the basis of preliminary investigation and statements of witnesses, this case of murder has come to light. He said that Anant Singh’s name is clearly mentioned in the FIR lodged by Yadav’s family, following which the police took prompt action. However, Jan Suraj Party alleges that the police delayed the arrest.
It is noteworthy that the Election Commission, keeping a close watch on this matter, has transferred many officers including Patna Rural SP. Also, orders have been given to suspend a DSP of Barh and take disciplinary action. Let us tell you that the assembly elections in Bihar are to be held in two phases on 6th and 11th November, while the counting of votes will take place on 14th November.
Amidst these incidents, the administration is strict about following law and order and model code of conduct. Police are conducting a detailed investigation into the matter and more revelations are expected in the coming days.
