West Bengal: 45 Bangladeshis caught while crossing the border

At least 45 Bangladeshis, including 11 children, were caught in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district on Saturday while they were trying to cross the international border illegally. Police gave this information.

Basirhat Superintendent of Police (SP) Hussain Mehdi Rehman said that when the infiltrators were trying to enter Bangladesh without any valid documents, they were stopped by Border Security Force (BSF) personnel at Hakimpur.

“Among the captured Bangladeshis were 15 women and 11 children, who were handed over to the police by the BSF,” the police officer said. The SP said the arrested people worked at various places in Kolkata and Rajarhat area.

SP Hussain Mehdi Rehman said the accused were produced in Basirhat court and sent to 14-day judicial custody. A day earlier, BSF had arrested 11 Bangladeshis, including four children, in the district and handed them over to Swaroop Nagar police station.
