Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that the road network in the villages of Chhattisgarh has spread to 40,000 kilometers. He said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government at the Center has provided proper housing to about four crore people suffering from poverty. While addressing a public meeting at Chhattisgarh Silver Mahotsav in Atal Nagar-Nava Raipur, Prime Minister Modi said that I have also seen the period before the formation of Chhattisgarh state. I have also seen the journey of the last 25 years. I feel lucky to be a part of this moment. We have completed 25 years, and the sun is about to rise for the next 25 years.

Narendra Modi said that after the year 2000 the entire generation has changed. An entire generation did not see those old days when Chhattisgarh was formed. It was difficult to reach the villages. There were no roads. Today the road network in the villages of Chhattisgarh has spread to 40,000 kilometers. There has been progress in national highway infrastructure in the last 11 years. Prime Minister Modi said road and aviation infrastructure has reduced travel time between major cities in the state, improving overall connectivity. He said that Chhattisgarh has emerged as an industrial state.
He said that it used to take hours to go from Raipur to Bilaspur. The travel time has been halved. The foundation stone of a new four-lane highway has been laid. This highway will improve connectivity between Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand. Vande Bharat operates in Chhattisgarh. Cities like Raipur, Bilaspur and Jagdalpur have air connectivity. Prime Minister Modi said, “Chhattisgarh was known for the extraction of mineral raw materials. It has also emerged as an industrial state. I praise governments and chief ministers for the achievements of the state in the last 25 years. However, major credit for this goes to Dr. Raman Singh, who led the state through many challenges.”
Informing the public about various schemes benefiting the poor, the Prime Minister said that the BJP government has made efforts for the welfare of the poor. He informed that around four crore people have been provided proper housing in the last 11 years, and the number of medical colleges has also increased across the state. I have seen poverty closely. I am aware of the problems and desperation of the poor. That is why, when I was selected to serve the country, I focused on the welfare of the poor. Their medicine, their earnings and their education. Our government has focused on all these.

Modi said that Vishnu Dev Sai government has provided seven lakh houses to the poor within a year. There was only one medical college in Chhattisgarh 25 years ago. Today, that number is 14. AIIMS is in Raipur. Our effort is to provide a life of dignity to the poor. Our government has resolved to provide proper housing to the poor. In the last 11 years, four crore poor have been provided decent housing. We have pledged to provide additional three crore housing units. Last year, seven lakh housing units have been provided for the poor.
