Big vigilance operation against corruption in Amritsar, accused taking bribe in the name of SHO arrested

Vigilance has taken a big action against corruption in Amritsar. A person residing in Cheharta district of Amritsar, who used to take bribe in the name of SHO, has been arrested red-handed.

According to information, this arrest has taken place after a complaint lodged by a Cheharta resident. The complainant said that the SHO and his team came to his house and accused him of being involved in a drug smuggling case and warned that a criminal case would be registered against him.

To resolve the matter, the complainant contacted Lalit Arora, an acquaintance of the SHO, and he demanded a bribe of Rs 25 lakh from the SHO for not registering a case of drug trafficking. The complainant said that he could not pay such a huge amount and agreed to pay Rs 5 lakh. After this, the complainant told the vigilance about the entire matter and after investigation, the vigilance laid a trap and extorted Rs. 5 lakh from the complainant in the presence of government witnesses. The accused was arrested while taking bribe. A case has been registered against the accused in Amritsar and further investigation is on.
