Opt is a program that allows students studying on F-1 visa to work temporarily in the field related to their studies. This provides permission to live and find jobs for 3 years in the US after graduating international students of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (Stem).
If this bill passes, students will not be allowed to work on F-1 visa. Apart from this, they will not be able to change the F-1 visa in the work visa. It will be mandatory for such students to take a H-1B work visa to work in the US. This situation is worrying for students who are applying for H-1B work visa. According to a report, there were more than 3 lakh Indian students in the US in 2023-24 academic year, of which about 33% were eligible for OPT.
Indian students’ visa canceled even in case like drink and drive and over speeding in America
There has been news to increase concern for Indian students studying in America. Recently, US officials have started canceling the students’ F-1 visa on the basis of minor crimes.
