As the chessboard of Bihar Assembly has been laid, the picture of the political parties participating in the elections and the candidates in the Bihar Assembly elections has also almost come to the fore. The big question now emerging is whether the voters of Bihar will re-elect the NDA government or give a chance to the Grand Alliance. Women and floating voters have played a major role in the elections held in the country in the last few years, be it assembly elections or Lok Sabha elections. There is no doubt that women voters have played a major role in forming the Nitish government in the last Bihar Assembly elections. This time too, questions cannot be raised about the role of women voters. But the special thing that is emerging is that Millennials will play a special role in writing the destiny of the new government in the Bihar Assembly elections. According to the final voter list released by the Election Commission, floating voters i.e. voters voting for the first time will not be able to influence the election results. The reason for this is also clear and that is that floating voters are less than two percent. Out of more than 7 crore 41 thousand voters of Bihar, there are only a little more than 14 lakh one thousand floating voters. Most of the voters are Millennials i.e. more than 1 crore 92 lakh 74 thousand. Millennials or Gen Y is the generation that has started living with changing technology. This generation of 30 to 39 years has progressed along with the development of the digital world. That is why it acquires special importance.
In fact, Generation Y was used for the first time in the book Generations published in 1991 by William Strauss and Neil Howe. The growth of this generation from 1981 to 1996 coincided with the development of technology. In a way, this can be considered as the transition period of the digital world, and the period of economic liberalization in the country and the world also took place during this period. This generation has known and understood the rapid changes taking place in the economic world more closely. The reason is also clear that in today’s working population, the largest number is Generation Millennials. The development of the digital age has progressed during this period and this generation has also been more affected by economic reforms and socio-economic changes. Seen in this sense, the generation in this transition period of technological development has become more exposed to the circumstances. Ever since this generation has regained its senses. This is the generation that has grown up with the internet, mobile and social media.

It is clear that this generation also has more political understanding. Due to their close exposure to the current situation, the understanding of this generation will definitely influence today’s Bihar elections. However, today this generation has started raising its voice against the announcements of political freebies from a young age, hence due to the undercurrent of understanding of this generation, this generation will play a special role in influencing the election results of Bihar. However, since Modi, during the elections, floating voters i.e. teenagers who voted for the first time and Generation Z have played a big role in forming the Modi government. It is believed that the craze for Modi is being seen continuously among Generation Z and floating voters.
But in the current circumstances, the role of Gen Y also cannot be denied. It should be clear that in the final list of voters released for Bihar Assembly elections, most of the voters are Gen Y i.e. Millennials and their strength and understanding cannot be underestimated. This generation has come face to face with the circumstances more closely. In such a situation, it should be clear that although it will be clear only from the results coming on 14th November, whose government is formed and which generation or which factors can influence the election results more, but there is no doubt that the role of Millennials will be important in the Bihar Assembly elections. Any party or coalition making the mistake of underestimating Millennials will surely prove costly.
