Maharashtra: Student dies after being assaulted during ‘freshers’ party in Latur college, six arrested

Police arrested six students after a student was allegedly killed in a fight during a freshers’ party at a private college in Maharashtra’s Latur district. Officials informed about this.

Police officials said on Wednesday that the incident took place on October 8 during a ‘freshers’ party organized at a college located in the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) area of ​​Latur.

A minor dispute that started during a dance at a party soon turned into violence when the victim, Suraj Shinde, got into a fight with a group of students. Enraged, the group allegedly attacked Shinde with sticks and punched him, police said.

According to a statement, Shinde, who was seriously injured, was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where he died during treatment. After this incident, based on the complaint of a college student, the police registered a case of murder and arrested four students by 16 October.

Police said that on Tuesday (October 21), two more students were arrested after their involvement came to light, taking the number of arrested accused to six. He said that a case has been registered against all of them under various sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS).
