Australia series will reveal…this veteran gave a big statement regarding the future of Rohit-Virat

Team India’s star batsmen Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have returned to the field after a long time in the ODI series against Australia. However, his comeback was not as strong as was expected. Now former Australia captain Ricky Ponting has made a big claim regarding the future of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Ponting believes that the performance of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the current ODI series against Australia will determine whether the star Indian pair can play till the 2027 World Cup or not.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have retired from T20 and Test. Due to which both of them could not last long against the Australian fast bowlers on the bouncy pitch of Perth. India lost this match by seven wickets.

The second ODI of the three-match series will be played in Adelaide on Thursday, October 23, where the conditions will be more favorable for the Indian batsmen than in Perth. Ponting, while speaking with former Indian coach Ravi Shastri on the ICC review, said that the legendary pair should set short-term goals for themselves instead of thinking only about the 2027 ODI World Cup.

Ponting further said that, one thing I don’t like to hear from anyone is that I have achieved everything in playing. Because I think you should still have some short-term goals. You should not just think about the ODI World Cup to be held in 2027 right now.

He said that, Virat has been a very inspirational person from the beginning and I think he must have set some targets for the current series against Australia. He won’t be wasting his time thinking about the next World Cup. It remains to be seen whether he will be able to continue his best performance till the World Cup.
