‘Free toll’ movement of employees on not getting Diwali bonus, lakhs of vehicles passed for free on Agra-Lucknow Expressway

A unique incident took place on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway on Sunday after angry employees went on strike over not receiving Diwali bonus. Employees at Fatehabad toll plaza removed toll barriers, following which thousands of vehicles passed through the expressway without paying any toll.

The pictures obtained from the spot clearly show that the vehicles were crossing the toll booth comfortably without paying any tax. This is a big incident, due to which the Central Government is estimated to suffer a huge loss of lakhs of rupees.

Agra-Lucknow Expressway is an important route of Uttar Pradesh, which directly connects Agra and Lucknow. It is also connected to Delhi and NCR through Yamuna Expressway.

Employees expressed their problems

Explaining his problem, one of the striking employees said, ‘I have been working with the company for the last one year, but they have not given us any bonus. We work very hard, but we don’t even get our salary on time. Now the company is saying that they will replace the employees, but will not give us bonus.

These employees work for Shreesai and Datar Company. Some employees claimed that they were given firm assurance of getting bonus on Diwali last week, but it did not happen.

The demonstration lasted for 10 hours

After this, the angry employees opened the barrier of the toll booth on Sunday night and sat on strike there. This protest lasted for about 10 hours. After the intervention of the authorities and assurance of bonus to the employees, the protest finally ended and toll collection could begin.
