In his Diwali message, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India not only followed dharma but also avenged injustice during Operation Sindoor, which was conducted from May 7 to 10. This operation was a strong response to the Pahalgam terrorist attack. Prime Minister Modi linked it to the teachings of Lord Shri Ram, whose ideals provide courage to fight injustice while maintaining moral values. This is the second Diwali after the grand construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya.
This year’s Diwali is special because for the first time, lamps will be lit in many remote districts of India where Naxalism and Maoist terrorism have been completely wiped out. Prime Minister Modi highlighted how many former militants have now joined mainstream development, showing faith in the Constitution of India.
‘Next generation improvements’
Prime Minister Modi also mentioned the recent “next generation reforms”, including the implementation of GST rate reduction ahead of Navratri.
These reforms are helping citizens save thousands of crores of rupees, making life easier and boosting economic growth.
Embracing indigenous and healthy living
The Prime Minister urged citizens to proudly embrace indigenous products and maintain the spirit of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat”.
He encouraged respect for all languages, awareness of cleanliness and health. He suggested reducing oil consumption by 10% and adopting yoga for better health, which would accelerate India’s development journey.
Prime Minister Modi’s meaning of Diwali
Prime Minister Modi also shared the deeper meaning of Diwali that when one lamp lights another, the light becomes brighter. He urged everyone to spread harmony, cooperation and positivity in the society during this Prakash Parv.

Dear countrymen,
On the auspicious occasion of Diwali, I extend my hearty greetings to all of you on this festival full of energy and enthusiasm. This is the second Diwali after the grand construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya. Lord Shri Ram teaches us to follow religion and also gives us courage to fight injustice. We saw a living example of this a few months ago during Operation Sindoor. During Operation Sindoor, India not only followed the religion but also avenged the injustice.
This Diwali is also special because for the first time, lamps will be lit in many districts across the country, including remote areas. These are the districts where Naxalism and Maoist terrorism have been completely eradicated. In recent times, we have seen many people leaving the path of violence and joining the mainstream of development and expressing faith in the Constitution of their country. This is a big achievement for the country.

Along with these historic achievements, the country has also embarked on next-generation reforms in recent times. On the first day of Navratri, lower GST rates were implemented. During this “GST Savings Festival”, citizens are saving thousands of crores of rupees.
In a world grappling with various crises, India has emerged as a symbol of both stability and sensitivity. We are also on the path to becoming the third largest economy in the world in the near future.
In this journey to a “developed” and “self-reliant India”, our primary responsibility as a citizen is to perform our duties towards the nation. Let us embrace “Swadeshi” and proudly say: “This is Swadeshi!” Let us promote the spirit of “One India, Best India”. Let us respect all languages. Let us maintain cleanliness. Let us give priority to our health. Let us reduce the use of oil in our food by 10% and adopt yoga. All these efforts will rapidly take us towards a “developed India”.

Diwali also teaches us that when one lamp lights another, its light does not diminish but increases. In this spirit, let us light the lamps of harmony, cooperation and positivity in our society and environment this Diwali.
Once again, Happy Diwali to all of you.
Yours,
Narendra Modi
