Vigilance raids in RTA offices in Punjab: 24 FIRs were registered and 24 accused were arrested, bribes used to be taken in exchange for driving license and services – Punjab News

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau filed 16 FIRs after checking across Punjab.

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau raided the entire state today (7 April) at the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) offices and driving test centers. During this period, 24 persons involved in bribery and other flaws were arrested. Total 16 FIR rates during this period

Complaints were coming on CM helpline

The raid was conducted after the CM’s several complaints received on the anti -corruption action line. Various ranges of Vigilance Bureau, including Flying Squad and Economic Offenses Branch (EOW), took this action. RTA officials and agents who have been caught were illegally charging money in lieu of accelerating the driving license process or disturbing the results of the test.

Bribery game from Mohali to Hoshiarpur

The arrested persons include Sukhwinder Singh, a private agent from Mohali, who was caught red -handed taking Rs 2,500 as a part of a bribe of Rs 5,000 in exchange for providing driving license facility and sure of the approval of the test. In Fatehgarh Sahib, another agent Paramjit Singh was also caught taking Rs 5,000 for similar illegal services.

In Ludhiana, the EOW unit detained three persons Pankaj Arora alias Sunny, Deepak Kumar and Manish Kumar for demanding bribes ranging from Rs 1,500 to Rs 3,500. The Ludhiana Vigilance Bureau Range arrested two other agents named Tausif Ahmed Ansari and Honey Arora on charges of recovering a bribe of Rs 7,000 and Rs 5,500 respectively for obtaining licenses.

In Jalandhar, Mohit Kumar and Vijay Kumar were caught red handed taking Rs 2,000 to get a fast-track driving test appointment.

In Hoshiarpur, Ashok Kumar was caught taking Rs 5,000 in lieu of passing the test without a real trial. In Kapurthala, agent Sher Amrik Singh was caught with a cash of Rs 12,000, causing suspicion of his collusion with RTA officials.
