Eight-year-old dancer Aadhyasree Upadhyay from Dhemaji, Assam, winner of Sony TV’s ‘Super Dancer Chapter 5’, recently met late music icon Zubeen Garg’s father and dedicated her trophy to him. This meeting was a significant moment for the young artist, reflecting the indelible impression Garg made on his fans and the artistic community of Assam.Aadhyasree Upadhyay and Sukriti Paul were declared joint winners of this reality show. Both the winners received a grand trophy, prize money of Rs 10 lakh and special gifts from the sponsors of the show. During the celebration, Aadhyasree clarified that her win was dedicated to Garg, who recently passed away in a tragic accident, affecting fans across the country.

The meeting between Aadhyasree and Zubeen Garg’s father was emotional, showing his affection and respect for the late singer.Aadhyashree, a resident of Assam, told that ‘Zubeen Mama’ had already said that she would definitely win the show.During their meeting, Aadhyasree expressed her feelings saying that she was reminded of her “Zubeen Mama” after recently winning the trophy.

Speaking to Navbharat Times, she further said, “Zubeen uncle is the pride of our Assam. Before I came to Mumbai for the show, he had told me that I would win. Whatever he has said to people, that you will win or become very big, has always been true.” So, when he told me that I would win and after winning I should show him the trophy, I immediately believed that I would win, because whatever Zubin uncle says is always true.”
The grand finale of Super Dancer 5 proved to be a night full of energy, emotions and unforgettable moments. Every contestant gave their best performance in the hope of taking home the winner’s trophy, but Aadhyasree Upadhyay and Sukriti Paul enthralled everyone with their stellar performances.
Talking about her promise to Garg, Aadhyashree said, “I had promised him that I would definitely show him the trophy, so when I came to know that Zubin uncle is no more, I was very sad. I cried a lot, but because of the show, I could not go to bid him farewell at that time. However, after becoming the winner, I told my parents that after leaving Mumbai, I would first go to Sonapur, Will go to Guwahati, where tributes were paid to him.”
She further added, “I went straight there with the trophy. I paid tribute to Zubeen uncle and showed him the trophy. I told him, ‘Zubeen uncle, you said I should win and show you the trophy. I have won and shown you the trophy, so now please come to us. Without you, Assam feels deserted.'”
Zubeen Garg died under mysterious circumstances while swimming in the sea in Singapore on 19 September. He had gone to the Southeast Asian country to participate in the fourth edition of the Northeast India Festival.
