Protecting Hrithik Roshan’s personality rights, Delhi High Court orders removal of some posts

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday gave a big relief to Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan, protecting his personality rights. As per Live Law report, the court directed the removal of certain links and listings on various internet and e-commerce websites that were allegedly infringing the personality rights of the ‘War 2’ actor.

The court also refused to grant ex-parte relief to Instagram pages and fan clubs of Bollywood actors who had approached the court seeking protection of their personality rights against unauthorized use of their photographs/voice for alleged commercial purposes.

Protection of personality rights of Hrithik Roshan

Protecting the personality and publicity rights of Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan, the Delhi High Court on Wednesday ordered the removal of some objectionable ‘posts’ against him from social media. Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora said he was not passing any unilateral direction to remove certain ‘fan pages’ in the interim stage. He said that the order will be passed after hearing their side.

The court listed the case for next hearing on March 27, 2026, and said it would later pass a detailed interim injunction order. Roshan has filed a petition in the court seeking to restrain online platforms from illegally using his name, photographs and AI (artificial intelligence)-generated inappropriate content and to protect his personality rights.

Recently, Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, her husband Abhishek Bachchan, filmmaker Karan Johar, Telugu actor Akkineni Nagarjuna, ‘Art of Living’ founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and journalist Sudhir Chaudhary had also approached the High Court seeking protection of their personality and publicity rights and the court had granted them interim relief. A similar petition by singer Kumar Sanu is also pending in the High Court. The right of publicity, also known as personality rights, is the right to protect, control, and profit from one’s image, name, or likeness.
