Chiranjeevi Hanuman – The Eternal, a film made entirely with Artificial Intelligence (AI), has been announced for theatrical release, making Vikramaditya Motwane’s long-expressed concerns about AI taking over creativity in cinema a reality. The filmmaker has come forward to highlight this concern.

National Award-winning filmmaker Rajesh Mapuskar will direct India’s first cinematic film powered by artificial intelligence (AI), Chiranjeevi Hanuman-The Eternal. According to a press release, the film will be based on the mythological story of Lord Hanuman. Mapuskar, who won the National Award for the Marathi film Ventilator and has worked as an assistant director on films like “Munnabhai MBBS” and “Lage Raho Munnabhai”, said AI will be used extensively in “Chiranjeevi Hanuman – The Eternal”.

“I love experimenting with different genres in cinema and it would be very exciting for me to make a film using progressive technology like Generative AI. The story of Lord Hanuman is timeless, full of strength, devotion and purpose. It is a rare opportunity for me to direct such a film. This film will showcase the spiritual heritage of India and will shape the future of filmmaking,” he said in a statement. The film will be released on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti in 2026.
