Prashant Kishor-led Jan Suraj Party on Monday released its second list of candidates for 65 seats for the Bihar elections. However, Kishore’s name was missing from the list. There is talk about Prashant Kishor that he can contest from Raghopur seat against RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav. The party has fielded Kamlesh Paswan as its candidate from Harnaut, long considered a stronghold of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, although he has not contested any assembly election there for the last three decades.

The new list includes candidates for 20 reserved constituencies (19 for Scheduled Caste and 1 for Scheduled Tribe) and 46 unreserved seats. The party announced that the list includes candidates from 14 extremely backward classes (10 Hindus and 4 Muslims), 10 other backward classes, 11 reserved classes and 14 minority communities. To ensure wider participation, a SC/ST candidate has also been fielded from Harnaut Bardhaman assembly seat—which is a general category constituency.
Addressing a press conference, Kishor said that with this the party has announced candidates for a total of 116 seats. “In the first list we had announced candidates for 51 seats, and in the second list we have announced the names of candidates for 65 seats. Candidates for the remaining seats will be announced later,” he said. Kishore said that among the candidates declared so far, there are 31 extremely backward classes, 21 other backward classes and 21 Muslims.

On October 9, Prashant Kishor’s party released the first list of 51 candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. The list includes several prominent names, including former Union minister RCP Singh’s daughter Lata Singh, who has been fielded from Asthava, and legendary socialist leader Karpoori Thakur’s granddaughter Jagriti Thakur, who will contest from Morwa in Samastipur. Popular Bhojpuri singer Ritesh Pandey has also got the ticket to contest elections from Karghar. The party has also fielded famous mathematician KC Sinha from Patna’s Kumhrar seat.
