First in the IPL, then playing excellent innings for India while being in the Under-19 team and now being the vice-captain in the Ranji Trophy… at the age of just 14, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has touched new heights. Actually, Bihar cricket team has made its young star Vaibhav Suryavanshi the vice-captain in the first two matches of the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 season. The captain of the team will be Saqibul Ghani. This has been announced by Bihar Cricket Association itself.
Bihar will start its Plate League season against Arunachal Pradesh from October 15 at the Moinul Haq Stadium in Patna. In the last Ranji season, Bihar was relegated to the Plate League without registering a single win, but the presence of Vaibhav Suryavanshi has given new hope to the team.
Vaibhav is just 14 years old and has already made many records in his name in the world of cricket. At the age of just 12, he made his debut in Ranji. After this, at the age of 13, he got the contract of Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League.
Apart from this, Vaibhav has also been involved in the Indian Under-19 team’s tour of England and Australia. This year in the IPL, he created a world record for becoming the youngest T20 century in men’s cricket by scoring a century in 35 balls against Gujarat Titans. This was also the second fastest century of IPL.
However, Suryavanshi will not be seen playing for Bihar in the entire Ranji season as his focus will be on next year’s Under-19 World Cup 2026, which will be played in Zimbabwe and Namibia.
