Meanwhile, singer Kumar Sanu has moved the Delhi High Court, seeking legal protection of his personality rights, including his name, voice, songcraft and photographs, in the wake of increasing misuse of celebrity identity online. Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora is likely to hear the singer’s plea on Monday.
Kumar Sanu’s petition will be heard soon
In her petition, Sanu has claimed that with the help of AI, people are copying her voice and face. Along with this, people are making audio-videos in their name and uploading them on social media platforms, from which tax is being earned. The petition seeks an order prohibiting the use of his voice, singing technique, gestures, photographs, caricatures, signatures and other aspects of his personality without permission. According to the lawsuit, third parties are commercially abusing these features in a way that could confuse audiences and blur their identity.
