Women’s groups active in Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh and South India

‘Jamaat al-Muminat’ is reportedly active online in Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh and parts of South India. The group works through social media, WhatsApp groups and some madrassa networks to spread its activities. Its aim is to mislead women in the name of religion and exploit them for the purposes of the organization.

Use of pictures of Mecca and Medina

Intelligence agencies have revealed that Jaish’s new circular includes pictures of Mecca and Medina for religious appeal. It also contains emotional content to appeal to educated and urban Muslim women. This entire campaign attempts to connect women emotionally with the group’s objectives. The report also said that ‘Jamaat al-Muminat’ operates on a cell-based structure similar to Jaish, with small groups handling recruitment, fundraising and spreading the message through social media and madrassas. Intelligence agencies have found concrete evidence of this circular being linked to Pakistan.
