Suspended lawyer Rakesh Kishore, who tried to throw a shoe at Chief Justice of India (CJI) BR Gavai inside the Supreme Court, said he was deeply hurt by the CJI’s remarks and accused the judiciary of being biased towards issues related to Sanatan Dharma. The man who played the role of security guard during the courtroom incident has been suspended by the Bar Council of India. Speaking to news agency ANI after the incident on Tuesday, he said he had done so not out of anger, but out of emotional pain arising from repeated judicial interference in Hindu practices.

Rakesh Kishore said that he has no regrets for his actions. Kishore said no, the thing is that I was very hurt. On September 16, a person had filed a public interest litigation (PIL) in the court of the Chief Justice. Justice Gavai completely ridiculed it. Joking in the sense that he said, ‘Go pray to the idol, tell the idol to turn back its head.’ He had lost sleep after hearing CJI Gavai’s remarks. Every night God used to ask me how can I rest after so much humiliation? He claimed that the judiciary works differently when cases involve other communities. We see that the same Chief Justice takes big steps when cases come up against other communities.

A particular community has taken possession of the railway land in Haldwani. When an attempt was made to remove the encroachment, the Supreme Court had imposed a ban three years ago, which is still in force. Similarly, when Nupur Sharma’s case came up, the court said that you have spoiled the atmosphere. They do all this. That’s absolutely fine.
