Kamal Haasan visits Karur, meets families of stampede victims, praised police

Makkal Nidhi Mayyam (MNM) chief and Rajya Sabha MP Kamal Haasan visited a stampede site on September 27 in Karur, Tamil Nadu, killing 41 people. Hasan described it as “tragedy” and said that the organizers should accept the responsibility instead of blaming. Haasan interacted with the officials and met the families of the people affected by the incident, which took place during a rally organized by actor and Tamilga Vetri Kazagam (TVK) founder Vijay. Hassan told reporters after meeting the victim’s families and we should not say anything on it.

He said that many people have already said a lot. We have come here to ensure that they get justice and express their condolences. Now instead of asking questions, it is time to ensure that such an incident never happens again. Haasan said that he has not come here to praise anyone, but thanks the authorities for not allowing the program over the bridge. He said, otherwise, it would have been an unforgettable stigma. “He further said that the Chief Minister worked respectfully and he deserves praise. Defending the police, Haasan urged the public to allow them to do their work. He said,” When we should thank the police, we should not complain to them. They are performing their duty.
