India takes a big step with the 80th session of UNGA, New York will send multi-party delegation

In the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, India will be represented by two multi -party delegations of MPs, who will highlight the democratic diversity of the country on the global stage. The first delegation led by BJP MP PP Chaudhary will be in New York from 8 October to 14 October. The second delegation led by BJP MP Daggubati Purandeshwari will visit New York from October 27. An MP described the delegations as non-official and said that they not only represent the state, but represent the collective voice of India’s parliamentary democracy on major global issues.

Chaudhary’s group consists of 15 members, including BJP’s Anil Baluni, Nishikant Dubey and Ujjwal Nikam, Congress MP Vivek Tankha and Kumari Selja, Samajwadi Party’s Rajiv Rai and RSP K NK Premchandran. The second delegation includes BJP MPs VD Sharma, Dilip Saikia and Rekha Sharma, RJD’s Manoj Kumar Jha, DMK’s P Wilson, TMC (M )’s GK Vasan and AAP Sandeep Kumar Pathak. Purandeshwari said that the United Nations General Assembly is an important platform where member countries come together to discuss major global issues, from peace and security to human rights, development and international cooperation. I am eager to represent my country on the world stage and contribute to these important discussions.

An official said that there has been a long tradition of sending parliamentary delegation to the United Nations General Assembly in India, which gives MPs an opportunity to participate in international dialogues, although in 2004 there was a temporary obstruction in this practice.
