New Delhi. At the fourth Kautilya Economic Conference held in New Delhi, Union Minister of Communications and North Eastern Region Development M. Scindia gave his views on the theme ‘Communications: Emerging Technologies’. Speaking on the theme of the conference ‘Seeking Prosperity in Turbulent Times’, the Union Minister said that India has converted global challenges into opportunities with foresight and determination under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
India’s semiconductor mission towards self -sufficient future
Scindia, referring to the experiences of the time of Kovid epidemic, said that at that time everything from industry to education depended on a small microchip. India changed this challenge into an opportunity and launched the ‘Bharat Semiconductor Mission’ of ₹ 76,000 crore. Under this mission, semiconductor fabrication units are being set up in various states and 85,000 youth are being trained. So far, more than ₹ 1.6 lakh crore has been invested in this region, due to which India is becoming self -sufficient and ready for future.
Economic strength and global leadership
The Union Minister said that today’s global scenario is full of challenges like conflict, protectionism, climate crisis and inflation, but India has also gained 7.8% GDP increase in this uncertainty. India has now become the centerpiece of Global South as a voice of justice and equality. Scindia said, “India is not just an investment destination, it is a direction, a vision and mission for the world that shows the path of prosperity.”
Communication Area: Engine of Development and Inclusion
India today has 1.22 billion telephone customers and 94.4 million broadband users, which show fifteen times the increase in the last decade. India has rolled out the world’s fastest 5G, adding 99.8% districts in just 22 months. Digital Public Infrastructure, such as UPI, is now doing more than 260 billion transactions annually, which is 46% of the world’s total digital transactions. Scindia said that India has achieved the distinction of becoming a global center of innovation through inclusion and empowerment.
BSNL and Swadeshi 4G Stack: Symbol of self -sufficient India
Scindia said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, self -reliant India is not just a vision, but a mission, which has the ability to convert crises into opportunities. The Prime Minister has recently launched India’s first fully indigenous 4G stack in Jharsuguda, Odisha, developed in collaboration with C-Dott, Tages Network and TCS. 92,564 towers from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and Bharuch to Arunachal have been installed in every corner of the country.
India has now joined five countries, which are capable of fully preparing indigenous telecom ecosystems. BSNL has again come into profit after 17 years, and its customer base has increased from 78 lakhs to 2.2 crore. All towers can now be upgraded to 5G.
Artificial intelligence (AI): India’s indigenous innovation revolution
Union Minister Scindia said that artificial intelligence is the future communication revolution. Under the ‘India AI Mission’, India is strengthening computing infrastructure, domestic AI models, and startups and research institutes. The private sector has so far set 38,000 GPUs worth ₹ 20,000 crore, and the total investment is estimated to be more than $ 10 billion. He said that AI should be developed according to Indian languages and Indian needs.
Heritage of knowledge, innovation and patience
Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia highlighted India’s amazing achievements during his address. He said that today India has made a distinct identity on the world stage in areas such as Fintech, Telecom, Renewable Energy, Startup and Scientific Research. India today ranks first in mobile data consumption, second in internet users and mobile phones, third in startups and scientific talent, and renewable energy capacity, these achievements are evidence of our collective innovation, hard work and policy stability.
Scindia said that India is moving towards becoming the second largest economy in the world by 2027. This symbolizes that our country is coordinating both intelligence and wealth together. He said that the path of India’s progress is based on the global view inspired by indigenous innovation, self -reliant abilities and the spirit of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’.
