Election Commission’s main announcements

CEC Dnyanesh Kumar said that the Commission has made several major changes for the upcoming elections, which will start from Bihar and apply across the country.
1. Changes in EVM and ballot: Now the picture of the candidate in EVM will be colorful instead of black and white, so that it can be easier to identify in addition to the election symbol. Apart from this, the font of the serial number on the ballot will now be increased.
2. Polling Station and Security: The Commission has decided that no polling station will now have more than 1,200 voters. Every polling station in Bihar will have 100 percent webcasting facility. Identity cards have been issued to booth-level officers for better identity. Also, the process of depositing the mobile phone in a room outside the booth will be implemented across Bihar.
3. Changes in counting rules: Counting of postal ballots will be mandatory before the last two rounds of EVM count. Previously, all VVPATs were counted when the data of Form 17C and EVM counting unit was different. Now this rule is further clarified.
4. Data Availability: Within a few days of the end of the election, the number of male and female voters and voting figures will now be available as a digital index card on ECI-Net.
