Keir Starmer’s visit to Mumbai before visiting Mumbai, UK agreement on quantum computing and biotechnology

An agreement has been signed between Imperial College London and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay to help farmers grow crops according to climate change using quantum computing and biotechnology. The agreement was reached before the UK Prime Minister Care Stmper visit Mumbai next week.

The project is part of the ‘India-UK Technology Security Initiative’ (TSI), which is based on quantum technology. Its purpose is to improve soil microorganisms and find new ways to protect crops in areas affected by drought and climate change. The Global Fintech Fest (GFF) starting in Mumbai on Tuesday, signed last year, will top the agenda on the involvement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2025 starting in Mumbai.

Professor Hug Brady, President of Imperial College London, will join members of the delegation of the Prime Minister going to Mumbai. A team led by Dr. Po-Heng (Henry) Lee of Imperial College and Dr. Indrajit Chakraborty of IIT Bombay are already using quantum computing to make models of complex interactions between plants and bacteria in the soil.

Dr. Lee said, this partnership has consecrated microorganisms and the expertise of IIT Bombay in Genomics is adopted with the capabilities of Imperial College in Bio Information Science and Quantum Computing Simulation. He said, the project paves the way for quantum technologies to solve global food security and climate -related immediate challenges.
