Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced that Israel is preparing to implement the first phase of Donald Trump’s plan to end the ongoing war in Gaza. In a statement issued by Netanyahu’s office, Israel pledged to fully cooperate with Washington for the release of the ceasefire and hostages as per the terms of the plan. The initiative of Trump, launched earlier this week, aims to prevent almost two years of struggle that started with Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023. The scheme has called for an immediate ceasefire, the release of all the remaining hostages and a phased return of the Israeli army from Gaza.

President Trump publicly urged Israel to stop his bombing campaign and emphasized that continuous air strikes are making the release of hostages very dangerous. He claimed progress in conversation with both Israeli and Palestinian representatives, saying that he believes that “they are ready for permanent peace. Trump’s statement came after the indication of some aspects of the resolution by Hamas, mainly aspects of the hostage and conditional acceptance of the internal Palestinian regime-while he has expressed his skeptics on other aspects of the Gaza.”

Hamas said that he is ready to release the remaining hostages and hand over the control of Gaza to other Palestinian groups, but insisted that comprehensive political issues require “a unanimous Palestinian stance” for comprehensive political issues. The group’s statement did not mention any commitment to disarmament, a major aspect of Israel’s central pre -condition and Trump’s plan. Hamas’s senior officer Moses Abu Marzook clarified in an interview that the implementation of the scheme is not possible without negotiations. He warned that the release of all hostages can be delayed within a 72-hour time frame set by Trump due to logistics challenges.
