India UK: British PM is coming to Mumbai, first journey after trade deal

The Ministry of External Affairs (Mea) has announced that the United Kingdom Prime Minister Kir Starmer will make his first official visit to India on October 8-9, 2025 at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During this two-day visit, leaders are expected to review the progress in India-UK comprehensive strategic partnership under the ‘Vision 2035’ Roadmap. It is a 10-year-old plan consisting of trade and investment, technology and innovation, defense and security, climate and energy, health, education and relations between people.

In Mumbai on 9 October, Modi and stormers will meet the trading and industry veterans and will detect opportunities under the India-Bitten Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), a major column of bilateral economic partnership. The two leaders will also exchange views on important regional and global issues. The two Prime Minister will participate in the sixth edition of the Global Fintech Fest in Mumbai, will deliver the main speech and discuss with policy makers, new-intensified and industry experts.

The visit is taking place after Modi’s visit to UK in July 2025 and is being seen as an opportunity to further strengthen India-UK relations in economic, technical and strategic fields, which confirms his shared approach to a remote partnership.
