Ind vs Aus: Shubman Gill got captaincy by snatching captaincy from Rohit Sharma, Ajit Agarkar told the reason

Team India has been announced for the upcoming ODI and T20 series against Australia. Where Shubman Gill has been given the captaincy in place of Rohit Sharma for the ODI series. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are also part of the ODI squad. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar has also given the reason for Rohit Sharma’s removal from the post of captaincy. He has said that Rohit Sharma has been told about the change in captaincy.

Earlier, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retired from Test cricket a few days before the squad was announced for the Test series against England. Rohit was also the captain of the Test team at that time but the selectors made up their mind to hand over the captain of the Test to Gill. Earlier in 2021, Virat Kohli also had to go through some such rounds. Kohli had decided to quit the captaincy of the T20 format, after which the BCCI had also removed him from the captaincy of the ODI team and then he left the captaincy of the Test team for some concrete reason.
Shubman Gill has been elected captain of the Indian ODI team in place of Rohit Sharma. Shreyas Iyer was appointed as the vice -captain of India’s ODI team for the tour of Australia. Selection Committee chief Ajit Agarkar supported the decision to remove Rohit Sharma from the post of ODI captain. He believes that it is impossible to keep different captains for all three formats. He said that this decision has been taken keeping in mind the 2027 ODI World Cup.

Ajit Agarkar said in the press conference that, we do not have to play too much ODI and we have to give enough time to the next captain. Rohit Sharma has been told about the change in the captain. How Rohit decided to change the captain is the matter between him and the selection committee.
Currently, the ODI matches will be played in Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne from October 19 to 25, after which the five -match T20 series are to be held.
