The Bihar cabinet on Friday increased the dearness allowance of government employees and pensioners by 3 percent. This decision came by the Central Government on Wednesday after an increase in dearness allowance of about 49.19 lakh central employees and 68.72 lakh pensioners. According to the latest amendment of the central government, the employees of the state government will now get 58 percent dearness allowance. This decision is important because assembly elections are going to be held in Bihar in the coming days. The Election Commission may soon announce the election schedule.

A total of 129 proposals were approved in the Nitish cabinet. Ministers of all departments were present in the meeting, in which several decisions related to various fields were taken. Bihar Additional Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar Chaudhary held a press conference to give information about the decisions taken in the meeting. He informed that the establishment of Bihar Film and Theater Institute was approved in the first agenda of Arts, Culture and Youth Department. The next agenda of the Agriculture Department includes the creation of 218 new posts and repayment of some existing posts. The approved major agricultural schemes include Rs 25.85 crore for promoting oilseed crops under the National Oilseeds Mission and Rs 95.85 crore for promoting lentil production under the pulses scheme.

Scholarship doubles for school students
The cabinet approved the proposal to double scholarship for school students:
– Class 1 to 4: 600 to Rs 1200
– Class 5 to 6: 1200 to Rs 2400
– Class 7 to 8: 1800 to Rs 3600
– Class 9 to 10: 1800 to Rs 3600
Apart from this, all new advocates will be given a monthly stipend of Rs 5000 for three years.
