A Delhi court sent Swayambhu Baba Chaitananand Saraswati to 14 days judicial custody on Friday. The Delhi Police presented him before the Judicial Magistrate Animesh Kumar in the Patiala House court after the completion of the five -day police custody period.
The police demanded judicial custody for Chaitanyanand, accused of molesting 17 girl students at a private management institute here. His lawyer submitted an application demanding seizure memo and case diary, which was accepted by the court.
The court sought answers from the police on other applications, demanding that monks wear clothes, medicines and “sanyasi” food. Chaitanyanand (62) was arrested from Agra on 28 September. Earlier, the police had seized eight crore rupees deposited in several bank accounts and fixed deposits related to Saraswati.
According to the FIR, Saraswati, former president of the Management Institute, South-West Delhi, allegedly forced the girl students to come to their quarters late at night and sent them an inappropriate message at unfair time.
He allegedly monitored the activities of the girl students through the CCTV monitoring app installed in his phone. During the investigation, it was found that the accused allegedly operated several bank accounts using various names and details and withdrawn more than Rs 50 lakh after the FIR was registered against him.
He allegedly presented different details documents at the time of opening the account. The police also found fake visiting cards from him, on which it was shown to be associated with the United Nations and BRICS.
