The Sir Creek dispute between India and Pakistan is one of the long -standing regional disputes between the two neighbors, whose roots are before India’s independence. Although this dispute often becomes secondary in broad India-Pakistan relations, the dispute is still important due to its strategic, economic and environmental influences. India’s top intelligence and naval sources have revealed how Pakistan is setting up military complex, military cantonments and emergency airstrips in Sir Creek, a disputed area between India and Pakistan in the southeastern region of Sindh.

Why Sir Creek controversy suddenly came into discussion
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has recently given a strong warning to the military construction being done by Pakistan near Sir Creek region. He said that any adventure will get such a strong answer that it can change both history and geography. Speaking at a public program on the occasion of weapon worship, he accused Pakistan of deliberately provoking the long-standing Sir Creek controversy, while India is repeatedly trying to resolve it through dialogue. Singh said that the recent expansion of Pakistani military infrastructure in areas adjacent to strategically sensitive Sir Creek along the Gujarat coastline shows Pakistan’s vague intentions and provocative attitude. The Defense Minister celebrated Dussehra with the soldiers and performed arms worship on the occasion. Singh also said that the Indian Army has successfully achieved all the objectives of Operation Sindoor and it was not its aim to start a war with Pakistan by increasing tension. He said that this campaign exposed Pakistan’s air defense and proved India’s decisive potential.

Sir Creek is a 96 km long water band located in the marshy area of Rann of Kutch in Gujarat. Geographically, it forms a border between the Kutch region of India and the Sindh province of Pakistan before it is found in the Arabian Sea. Historically, it was known as Baan Ganga and during the colonial period, it got the name Sir Creek named after a British officer.
