A senior Punjab Police official said on Friday that a person living in contact with agents of Pakistan’s intelligence agency Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) has been arrested with two grenades. Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said in a post on Friday, “Getting a big success, Amritsar Rural Police arrested Tarn Taran resident Ravinder Singh alias Ravi and recovered two grenades from him.” He said that preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested accused was in touch with the ISI agents of Pakistan and had received this consignment from across the border. The DGP said that an FIR has been lodged at the Gharinda police station in Amritsar.

Yadav said that further investigation is on to locate the entire network. He further said that the Punjab Police is committed to neutralizing the terrorist network, abolishing organized crime and ensuring peace and public security across the state. Earlier on Wednesday, the Border Security Force recovered more than 3 kg of ice drugs (methamfetamine) along the India-Pakistan border in Amritsar, an official said. During a search operation in an area near Burj village, BSF personnel recovered a bag full of drugs weighing 3.165 kg.

In another incident, the BSF recovered a drone and a packet of heroin weighing 580 grams from a farm near the village village in Tarn Taran district in a joint operation with the Punjab Police. The official said that this seizure symbolizes BSF’s continuous efforts to thwart the malicious efforts of Pakistani smugglers using drones to supply drugs across the border.
