The Assam Police arrested composer Shakharjyoti Goswami and singer Amritprabha Mahant in connection with the death of singer Zubeen Garg in Singapore last month. According to officials, both were present there at the time of the incident and were arrested after being called for questioning, as the police have found some evidence against them.
According to NDTV report, 52 -year -old Garg went to swim during a yacht party in Singapore on 19 September and was found to be swimming in the water. Sources in the special investigation team say Goswami was seen floating close to Garg in the video, while Mahanta recorded the entire incident in his cellphone.
Two people have been arrested before
Garg’s manager Siddharth Sharma and Shyamakanu Mahant, organizer of Northeast India Festival, have already been arrested in this case. The Assam Police has given a new twist to the case by adding Section 103 (related to murder sentence) of the Indian Code against both of them.
Special Director General of Police of CID Munna Prasad Gupta said that the two persons arrested are being interrogated, who have been sent to police custody for 14 days. He has been booked under various sections of BNS for culpable homicide, criminal conspiracy and negligence causing death.
The CID is still waiting for the viscera report, which will help in preparing the second post -mortem report. The first post -mortem report in Singapore will be submitted to Garg’s family after the formalities are completed.
