India strongly condemned the terrorist attack at the Heton Park Synagogue in Manchester in the United Kingdom, reminding it a strict remind of the threat of global terrorism. The statement came at a time when an attacker hit people from his car outside the Synagogue during Yom Kipping’s prayer meeting and later started attacking them with a knife, killing two people and four others seriously injured. The Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement that New Delhi stands firmly with the people of Britain in this hour of grief. Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said that today we condemn the terrorist attack on Manchester’s Heton Park Synagogue during the Yom Kippur prayer meeting. He wrote on X that it is particularly sad that this heinous act was done on the day of International Non -Violence Day. This attack reminds us of another frightening challenge to us from the evil forces of terrorism, which the global community will have to compete through united and concrete action.

He further stated that the condolences and prayers of India are with the victims, their families and the people of Manchester. The Greater Manchester Police later identified the attacker as a 35-year-old British citizen of Syrian origin Jihad al-Shami. The suspect was shot dead by the police after the attack. The police initially feared that he had explosives as he was wearing a jacket, but later confirmed that he did not have a bomb. Police have confirmed that three people have been detained on suspicion of crimes related to terrorism. Those arrested include two men aged 30 years and a 60 -year -old woman. The London-based Metropolitan Police Force, which leads the anti-terrorism policing operations in the country, has declared the violence a terrorist attack.

British Prime Minister Kir Starmer strongly condemned the attack and described the attacker as disgusting and stressed that the Jewish community was targeted due to their faith. He assured that his government would take all possible steps to ensure his safety. Starmer said that I promise you that in the coming days, you will see a separate Britain, Britain of compassion, decency and love. He further said that I promise you that this Britain will unite to embrace your community and show you that Britain is a place where you and your family are safe and where you have your belongingness.
