India’s Under-19 team defeated Australia by an innings and 58 runs in the first youth Test match played at Brisbane and took a 1-0 lead in the series. This victory was very impressive, in which both batting and bowling saw the dominance of Indian players.
The Australian team started to start their second innings losing one wicket for eight runs, but the entire team was reduced to just 127 runs in 49.3 overs. India needed to play only one innings, in which Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Vedanta Trivedi’s magnificent innings turned the match towards India.
Only 14 -year -old Suryavanshi played a stormy innings of 113 runs. He hit nine fours and eight sixes from 86 balls and completed a century in just 78 balls. This was the fourth fastest century in the Test cricket history of the youth. Suryavanshi has now joined the particular list, which has been included in a century of Brendon McCullum, who scored a century in less than 100 balls.
Vedanta Trivedi scored 140 off 192 balls with patience and accuracy. The two together shared a 152 -run partnership and brought India to 428. Earlier, Australia was able to score 243 runs in the first innings, which gave India a significant lead of 185 runs.
In bowling, Dipesh Devendran’s fire was worth watching. He took 5 wickets in the first innings and 3 more wickets in the second innings. Khilon Patel and Kishan Kumar also bowled impressive and took wickets at regular intervals. Steven Hogan scored 92 runs in the first innings for Australia, while only Aryan Sharma (43 runs) in the second innings could struggle.
Earlier, India defeated the hosts 3–0 in the Youth ODI series. Now this Test victory clears the strength and depth of the Indian youth team.
The next and final youth test will be played in McKay from 7 October, where the Indian team will try to maintain the rhythm of their victory.
