Security arrangements were tightened in four districts of Bareilly division on Thursday. Police, Provincial Armed Forces (PAC) and Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel were deployed on the streets and monitored by drones. Officials said that this step has been taken in view of the Dussehra festival. Mandalayukta Bhupendra S. Chaudhary has declared high alert in Bareilly, Shahjahanpur, Pilibhit and Badaun districts. Police forces have been instructed to be vigilant in Ramlila Maidan, Durga Puja Fairs and Ravana Dahan programs, where there is a possibility of huge crowd.

Chaudhary warned that all District Magistrates, Deputy District Magistrates, Police and Administrative Officers should seriously discharge their responsibilities. Strict action will be taken on any lapse. Officials said that intelligence teams have also been kept on alert to prevent any new dispute. Armed policemen are being deployed at sensitive places. A senior official said, “We are making a complete arrangement so that the violence in Bareilly does not spread to the neighboring districts.”
Action continues against suspected rioters and their supporters. On Tuesday, the district head of Ittehad-e-Millat Council (IMC) Shamsad was arrested along with another suspected Tajim after separate police encounters. Officials said IMC chief Maulvi Tauqir Raza Khan, some of his close associates and even a relative have been detained.

Using CCTV and drone footage, our team is working to identify those involved in provoking the crowd. Sections 144 and 163 of BNS are applicable in the district. Nafees is an associate of Maulana Tauqir Raza, who has already been arrested as he appeared as the main conspirator in the stone pelting case. Raza is currently in judicial custody.
