Sad news is coming from Bugo city of Philippines. Due to the earthquake here, many people are reported to have been killed and there has been a lot of loss of life and property. The intensity of this earthquake is said to be 6.9. About 69 people have been killed in this earthquake and more than 100 are said to be injured. Disaster management officials said that these numbers could increase. Many videos are also coming out, in which cracks are seen in the building. The video of a historic church is also becoming quite viral on social media. Officials said the earthquake was about 19 km north-east from Bogo. Bogo is a coastal city in Sebu province, which has a population of about 90,000 and about half of the total death figures have been recorded here.

Rescue work has slowed down due to intermittent rains and damaged bridges and roads. Bernardo Rafelito Alejandro, Deputy Administrator of the Civil Protection Office, said at a press conference, “We are still doing search and rescue work.” There are many cases of being buried under the people. Bogo city disaster-mood officer Rex Yagot told the ‘Associated Press’ in the early hours of Wednesday that the workers were trying to intensify the search and rescue efforts in a group of huts in a hill village affected by landslides. Another disaster-maintain officer Glenn Ursl said, it is difficult to go to that area because there are no dangers there. He further said that some surviving people were brought to the hospital from the hill village.

The storm had caused electricity to all cities and towns and forced thousands of people to go to safe places. Schools and government offices in earthquake affected cities and towns were closed while the security of buildings is being investigated. Director of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, Teresito Bacolcol said that over 600 shocks have been felt after Tuesday night’s earthquake. He warned that in a major earthquake, hills soaked by rain are more sensitive to landslides and soil sinking.
