According to the police, the incident took place late on Saturday night at Nirbhay Puram Colony of Nagar Kotwali police station area. According to the police, the accused youth was depressed due to his newly married wife’s maternal home and started drinking alcohol.

Police Officer (CO) Munish Chand told ‘PTI-language’ that the accused was identified as Akshay, who returned to Saharanpur with his wife 15 days before getting married in Bihar, but his wife went to her maternal home two days ago.

The CO said that Akshay asked his mother Asha Devi (55) on Saturday night to buy liquor. He told that Akshay’s mother told him that he did not have money, so he told his mother to sell his jewelry so that he could buy liquor.

Chand said, “In a short time the debate between mother and son increased so much that Akshay beat his mother and slammed her head several times.” She said that it was seriously injured and fell on the spot.

The CO said the police arrested the accused from the spot and rushed the injured woman to the district hospital, where doctors declared Asha Devi dead. He informed that further investigation is being done in this matter.
