Mithun Manhas became the new president of BCCI, Harbhajan Singh congratulated

After the conclusion of the annual general meeting of the Board of Control for Cricket in India in Mumbai, former cricketer Mithun Manhas has been officially appointed as the new chairman of the board. Manhas has been elected unopposed to this post, and he has become the third consecutive president who has been a cricketer himself after Sourav Ganguly and Roger Binny. Manhas, 45, replaced Roger Binny.


Harbhajan Singh expressed happiness

Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh expressed happiness over becoming the president of Mithun Manhas and congratulated the new team. Harbhajan Singh said, ‘I congratulate the new BCCI team and all the members including Mithun (Manhas). What BCCI and Jai Shah have done to pursue the game for cricketers is commendable.
He further said, ‘Every cricket lover has got a new direction and I hope that the BCCI will work to improve the game. Jai Shah has left a big legacy behind him and now he is the chairman of the ICC … When a cricketer is the head of a cricket institution, his experience is useful … I have played a lot with Mithun, especially in our under-19 days. ‘

Manhas will now have a big responsibility for the Indian cricket administration to pursue development, demonstrations and innovation. Prior to the election of the Speaker, in the meeting held on Saturday, candidates for other key posts including treasurer and IPL president were discussed. Manhas had previously been the cricket director of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association.
