In Uttar Pradesh, under the ‘Mission Shakti 5.0’ being run for the safety, honor and self-reliance of women, the Women and Child Development Department on Friday organized awareness programs under ‘safe workplace-power women’ campaign and service fortnight in all 75 districts of the state.
The main objective of these programs was to make the participants and public aware of the provisions of the Sexual Harassment (Prevention, Prohibition and Prevention) Act, 2013 at the workplace of protection of women at the workplace and conservation of sexual harassment at the workplace.
According to a statement, about 50,000 women from the state participated in various events on the first day of the campaign. The statement said that the awareness campaign was involved in the awareness campaign officials, employees, women self-help groups, students, advocates, labor organizations and representatives of the local community.
It said that this campaign, part of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s women’s empowerment campaign, is adding a new dimension towards ending gender harassment at the workplace.
The main objective of ‘Mission Shakti-5.0’ is to ensure the safety, respect and self-reliance of women and girls. Leena Johri, Principal Secretary, Women and Child Development Department, said that ‘Mission Shakti 5.0’ is not only the implementation of the schemes, but it is a campaign of continuous social change.
He said that awareness of the sexual harassment (prevention, prohibition and prevention) Act, 2013 at the workplace is an important part of this change. Johri said, “Our goal is that every workplace is not only safe for women, but an environment where they can work with respect and confidence.” Every woman will become safe and self -sufficient only when the society himself comes forward with responsibility.
