Pakistan head coach Mike Hessen on Sunday urged his players to focus on cricket before their first historic Asia Cup final against India in Dubai. After an increased tension in the last two matches since the military struggle in May, Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by 11 runs in the Super 4 match in Dubai on Thursday to secure their place in the final. In this Asia Cup, the last two matches of India-Pakistan were filled with controversies, where both teams refused to join hands after both matches.
India-Pakistan face to face for the third time in Asia Cup
After the useful innings of the lower middle -order batsmen, Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by 11 runs in the Asia Cup T20 super four -phase do or die match and cut the final ticket. India will be challenged in the finals in front of Pakistan. This is the first time in the history of Asia Cup when both the arch-rivals will be face to face in the title match. Pakistan, batting first, stopped Bangladesh for 124 runs after scoring 135 runs for eight wickets. For Pakistan, Shaheen Shah Afridi took three wickets for 17 runs. Haris Rauf also had three success while Saim Ayub took two and Mohammad Nawaz took one wicket. Shamim Hussain scored the highest 30 runs for Bangladesh. Apart from him, any batsman failed to cross the 20 mark. Bangladesh bowlers, led by Taskin Ahmed (three wickets for 28 runs), tightened the match in the first 12 overs. Leg spinner Rishad Hussain took two for 18 while Maheedi Hasan took two wickets for 28 runs. Experienced Mustafizur Rahman proved to be the most expensive, he took one wicket for 33 runs.

Pakistan overturned in second innings
Pakistan’s team was struggling by losing five wickets for 49 runs in the 11th over and it seemed that the team would not even reach 100 figures. Mohammad Haris (31 off 23 balls), Shaheen (19 off 13 balls) and Nawaz (25 in 15 balls) brought the team to a respectable score with useful innings. Faheem Ashraf remained unbeaten on 14 runs in nine balls. Defending the small target, Shaheen gave Pakistan a great start in the first over without opening the account of Parvez Hussain Imon at the hands of Nawaz on deep midwicket.

Saif Hasan, who is running in a spectacular rhythm, tried to reduce the pressure by hitting sixes against Faheem Ashraf and Haris Rauf. Pakistan lost an easy opportunity to run out Saif in the fifth over when both batsmen reached the same end and Saim’s throw came out of the wicket. Shaheen, however, gave Pakistan a second success by dismissing Tauhid Hriday (five) on the next ball. Maheedi, who was sent up in the batting order, opened the account with a six but Saif played Haris Rauf’s ball in Saim’s hands in the next over.
In Powerplay, Bangladesh was struggling for 36 runs for three wickets. The Pakistan captain then handed the balls to the spinners from both ends and Maheedi played Nawaz’s ball in the hands of Talat Hasan while trying to play an aggressive shot to increase the run speed. Shamim hit a six off Abrar Ahmed’s ball but Nurul Hasan (16) caught Nawaz off Saim after spending time at the crease. Captain Zakir Ali (five) also failed to contribute with the bat, causing the necessary runs to grow rapidly.
Bangladesh’s expectations died as soon as Shamim, who was batting aggressively off the ball of Shamim. Rauf confirmed Pakistan’s victory by taking two wickets in the 18th over.
