Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta expressed displeasure over not having proper cleaning in Chandni Chowk on Thursday and directed the officials to keep the area clean. Gupta participated in Shramdaan under the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign at Chandni Chowk this morning.
The Chief Minister said that there is a need to improve the sanitation system in Chandni Chowk area. He told reporters, “We chose Chandni Chowk because it is a heritage site. Millions of people come here every day. There are religious places here and many processions also pass through this region during Navratri.
The Chief Minister pointed to the paan peak marks and a lack of dustbins in the area. He said, “I have instructed the officials to ensure cleanliness in the area. But people also have to ensure cleanliness around them. If a shopkeeper’s employee is dirty the surrounding area, he will have to ask him not to do so. If a shopkeeper is doing this, then his neighbor shopkeeper will have to convince him. ”
Gupta also said that he has instructed the workers not to put their posters on the walls. He said, “We have given clear instructions – do not put our posters. I will not be happy to see them. If the workers want, they can apply hoardings, but they should also be removed after a few days.
