The Delhi High Court on Thursday conferred Telugu actor Akkineni Nagarjuna to protect personality and publicity rights.The right to publicity, commonly known as personality rights, has the right to protect, control and benefit from someone’s image, name or equality.On the plea that was filed before Justice Tejas Karia for hearing, the court said that he would pass the order. The court orally said, “When you can identify the URL, it would be best to instruct them to be removed … we will pass the order.”The court said that it would issue a appropriate order and set the next hearing of the case on 23 January.

Three categories of violations were identified in Akkineni Nagarjuna’s petition: incorrectly pouring pornographic content in his name, unauthorized trading materials, and materials generated by artificial intelligence misusing their image. His lawyer cited YouTube shorts and paid promotional videos, using Nagarjuna a hashtag and warned that such materials could be used to train artificial intelligence models.

The Delhi High Court said that once the content is uploaded on the Internet, the generative AI models can identify it regardless of its authenticity.
The petition came before Justice Tejas Kariya for hearing, who said that he would pass an order in this regard. The court orally said, “When you can identify the URL, the best is to instruct them to be removed … we will pass the order.”
Recently, Bollywood actress Aishwarya Bachchan and her husband Abhishek Bachchan and filmmaker Karan Johar also approached the High Court to protect their personality and publicity rights and the court gave them a similar relief. Advocate Praveen Anand, who is representing Nagarjuna, said he is distressed by three types of violations – porn websites, sales of goods using unauthorized uses of the actor’s personality characteristics and various YouTube videos.
The court said that she would give appropriate order and listed the case for the next hearing on 23 January. The right to publicity is known as personality rights. It has the right to protect, control and profit from someone’s image, name or equality.
