India today recorded another historical achievement in its strategic abilities. Let us tell you that the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and the Strategic Force Command (SFC) jointly tested the medium-distance fire-prime missile from the rail-based mobile launcher. This is the first time a specially designed platform has been launched by connecting it to the Indian Railway Network. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh described it as “the first -time unique attempt” and said that this technology has brought India’s strategic prevention capacity to a new level.
Let us tell you that the fire-prime missile, which has already been tested with sea and land based mobile launchers, has now become even more flexible with rail-based launcher. Due to this new technology, the missile can be transferred to the railway network without any particular pre-east. This ensures the short reaction time and the visibility of the launch site is also minimal.

Earlier in March 2024, Agni-5 was tested under ‘Mission Divyastra’, which demonstrated MIRV (Multiple Independently Targetable Re-Entry Vehicle) technology. This technique gives the ability to carry 3-4 nuclear warheads in the same missile and practice them on different goals.
At present, the strategic force command only operates one-wise missiles, but India’s strategic power and reliability with MIRV capacity increases manifold. In such a scenario, the rail-based projection of fire-prime makes India’s strategic chain even more multidimensional.
In the global perspective, only selected countries of the world have been able to develop rail -based or canisterized mobile launch systems.
