We love India, want to trade more energy with him: US minister

US Energy Minister Chris Wright said on Wednesday that his country wants to expand energy cooperation with its ‘magnificent ally’ India, including natural gas, coal, nuclear power and clean fuel of cooking.

In response to a question of ‘PTI’, Wright said, “When I came to this position, most of my time has spent working with India, which is the world’s largest democracy, a brilliant ally of America, a fast growing economy and a dynamic society, whose demand for energy is growing rapidly because people are increasing their prosperity and opportunities.”

He said, “I am a big fan of India. We love India. We expect more energy trade and more interaction with India. ”Wright addressed a press conference held at the New York Foreign Press Center.

He was answering the question of ‘PTI’ on the comment of Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal that India expects to increase its trade on energy products with Washington in the coming years and would have a major element of America’s involvement in India’s energy security goals.

Wright was asked how he sees the cooperation between India and the US in the field of energy in the backdrop of an additional 25 percent tariff imposed by the US on Indian procurement of Russian oil. He said that US President Donald Trump’s biggest passion is world peace.
