Malayalam cinema’s acclaimed actor Mohanlal has officially started working on the third installment of the film ‘Drishyam’. Shooting began on 22 September with a puja ceremony, which was confirmed by the actor through an announcement on social media. Director Jeetu Joseph, producer Antony Permbavur and many others attended the worship ceremony in Kerala. His return in the role of Georgcutty has created a remarkable interest in both fans and the film industry.

Mohanlal’s name has recently been selected for the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Traditional lamps were lit and worshiped at the opening ceremony of the shooting. Director Jeetu Joseph and producer Antony Permbavur also attended the event with Mohanlal. Talking to reporters, Mohanlal expressed his happiness over being elected to the highest honor of Indian cinema.

Regarding his role of Georgekutty in the new part of the Drishyam series, he said, there is no doubt that Georgakutty will create some problems but I have been forbidden to tell more. Suspense is the thrill and attraction of ‘Drishyam-3’. Mohanlal said that after the film shooting inauguration ceremony, he would go to New Delhi to receive the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.

Drishyam-1 (2013) and Drishyam-2 (2021) were a hit across the country and have been reconstructed in many languages including Hindi, Sinhala, Mandarin and Korean. Director Jeetu Joseph said that the audience should not bring much expectations but to bring curiosity. The film is not a thriller but a family drama, focused on changes in Georgakutty’s family in the last four years. Manufacturer Antony Permbavur described it as an unforgettable day. He also spoke on the symbolic importance of the beginning of Drishyam-3 soon after the announcement of the award to Mohanlal.
