In Jammu and Kashmir, there were frequent encounters with terrorists in the last 24 hours, causing frequent security challenges in the region. A soldier was killed in an encounter on Friday in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir, while three to four terrorists of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JEM) are caught in the encounter.
Encounter in Jammu and Kashmir, 4 Jaish terrorists stranded: report
On Saturday morning, security forces had an encounter with Jaish-e-Mohammed (JEM) on the hills of Dudu Basantgarh in Udhampur district. Based on accurate intelligence information, the Indian Army, Special Campaign Group (SOG) and local police teams launched a coordinated campaign. An army soldier was injured in a fierce firing, which was provided with immediate medical assistance.

In its initial statement, the army said the encounter took place in the normal area of Kishtwar. However, in a new statement, the army said that the area where the encounter took place is located near the Doda-Udhampur border. A tweet by White Nights Corp wrote, “Contact with terrorists. Update. The contact site is Doda-Udhampur border. The campaign continues.”

There have been many encounters in this area in the last one year. Hyder, a terrorist killed in an encounter in the forest of Dudu-Basantgarh on 26 June, was a top commander of Jaish-e-Mohammed, who was active in the region for the last four years. On 25 April, an army soldier was killed in an encounter with terrorists hiding in Basantgarh area.
Chinese grenades recovered in intelligence raids
Meanwhile, the counter -intelligence unit of the Jammu and Kashmir Police carried out a thorough search operation in seven districts of the Kashmir Valley – Srinagar, Baramulla, Anantnag, Kupwara, Handwara, Pulwama and Shopian in a terrorist crime case. During the raids, security forces in Poonch sector recovered a large arms cache, including 20 Chinese grenades.
Sources said that this consignment of weapons was recently thrown and the terrorists had to take it to remote areas for terrorist activities. He further explained that the intelligence received on time helped to thwart this conspiracy. Offensive materials including some digital devices and documents were recovered in the raid.
